(AUTHOR'S NOTE: This restaurant is long defunct.)
I first heard of Gillian Gail Dessert Buffet through a friend from cosplay, who also happened to be an upperclassman of mine in college. She went to Japan to pursue higher studies, but returned to the Philippines to conduct research work. It was August 2014 that time, and it also happened to be her birthday month. She informed me and a few others about the place and invited us to celebrate there, to which I replied in the affirmative. Incidentally, her college batchmate owned the place – which made the experience better!
Gillian Gail Dessert Buffet offered a wide range of pastries, cakes, and other food items to satisfy your sweet tooth. It had two main options for customers that time. For P299, one would enjoy unlimited desserts and free-flowing coffee or brewed iced tea. Meanwhile, the P399 option had the same offer – with an added rice meal to round out the sweetness. Gillian Gail Dessert Buffet subsequently added more savory items to offset the sweet choices.
I subsequently returned to the joint in 2014 to celebrate my 24th birthday, this time with a number of friends from work. We did enjoy our time there, but unfortunately I was unable to return for a third time. Since that second visit and migrating this article, the original proprietors of Gillian Gail Dessert Buffet sold it to a new owner. It changed its name, until such time that it eventually folded up in 2017. I usually pass by the building where it used to be, and I can't help but feel sad.
This entry is rather short, but the original post was rather short to begin with – so let me make up for it with pictures. It definitely is nostalgic to return to the times when dessert buffets like this were the craze. Life was definitely good back then.
Until the next post, bon appetit.
